RIS Electric – How ATG Helped Launch Their Internal BIM Department

The Challenge

RIS Electric wanted to establish an internal BIM department but faced a significant hurdle: their designated lead, Project Manager Blake Hunter, had very little experience with Revit or other drafting programs.

They needed a partner to provide the foundational training necessary to turn a novice user into a department head.

The primary objective was to lay the groundwork for RIS Electric’s internal processes while providing an essential knowledge base in Revit.

The engagement focused on up-skilling staff through fundamental lessons on program operations and industry guidelines.

Business Outcomes

RIS Electric successfully launched their own BIM department with Blake Hunter at the helm.

After building the department from scratch using skills learned from ATG, RIS has since returned for additional mentoring to further refine Blake’s skills as a BIM Manager.

ATG has been a huge helping factor with our push on procuring an in-house BIM department. The instructor, Blake Creasman, has been an excellent trainer with his vast knowledge about the related software applications and availability to assist when needed.
