Don’t you wish you could activate or deactivate certain sections of your point cloud in Revit? You could use regions in Recap Pro, but that will bog down your dataset and make Recap difficult to use. The better solution? Use groups!
Groups in Recap? Never heard of ‘em
Regions reorganize the point data, but Groups (or folders) reorganize setups while maintaining registration. As you can see below under scan location, we have organized this dataset by basement, exterior and interior.
Both the exterior done by the scanner and the exterior done by the drone have been turned off for this dataset.
The best part is that you can do the same thing in Revit!

About David
David has over 10 years of experience in the survey and mapping industry, and has a genuine passion for turning reality into a digital playground. His father was a custom home architect, so David grew up around construction and drawings. He greatly appreciates the practice of mixing both creativity and logic.
David has a master’s in Geographic Information Systems and other undergraduate degrees. He has been using UAV and LiDAR technologies since 2014, and began working as a field asset data collector. Within a year he had developed that role into establishing a GIS department, an integral part of the company’s operations. David has performed reality capture services all over the country, successfully collecting, processing, manipulating and exporting the desired project deliverables.
