Meet the Team- Ted Gregory & Preston Long
In this week’s Meet the Team Monday, Ted Gregory, Strategic Account Manager, and Preston Long, Technical Specialist Construction, talk about their unique roles at ATG being based outside of our North Little Rock and Phoenix offices. They detail what their day-to-day life looks like, and what value they strive to bring to the table for all ATG customers and clients. Ted Gregory, Strategic Account Manager, ATG Headquarters During and after college, I worked in following industries; Mechanical, Electrical, Architectural, and Civil Engineering for 10 years. Following that, I became an Autodesk reseller and have been in that role for 24 years. How long have you worked for ATG? I have been employed with ATG for 4 and a half years. What does your day-to-day role at ATG look like? My typical days start with creating a list of goals for myself which include the research of current events and technologies, a lot of customer contact, and the divesting and sharing of any relevant information I have which may impact their business. What do you like most about working for ATG? I enjoy being part of a team that is not satisfied with the status quo. Rather, we want to be the best at what we do. How has ATG helped you in your career development? ATG has allowed me the freedom to grow their business in my territory, while supporting my personal and professional goals. What are the most pressing issues currently facing your customers? Customers today face many challenges in their businesses. They are looking for the most cost-effective solution for their business needs, yet they must differentiate themselves from their competition in order to stay competitive. How do you help with these issues? My goal has always been to build a relationship based on mutual trust with my clients. I honestly care about each of them, and feel huge personal satisfaction when they succeed. I always go the extra mile to learn their business, understand their challenged, and recommend the right solution to them. What is the key to maintaining a successful relationship as an Autodesk reseller? Because I am I regular and frequent contact with all of my clients, I feel like I am a part of their business, and I have a vested interest in their success. I want them to feel like they can always rely on me to be there, as both their reseller and their partner. How do you provide assistance to your customers in a way that is unique to ATG? I make myself available to my clients at their convenience. I usually respond to email inquiries after hours, on weekend and even on holidays, because, sometimes, this is when they need help the most. Often, the help I am able to provide to them doesn’t cost them anything, which is something very unique to ATG. What are you most excited about with ATG acquiring CADsoft? Acquiring CADsoft has added another level of depth to our already robust technical services pool, while giving us the ability to expand our Southern/Midwest reach from East to West. Merging the talent in both companies has enabled us to provide our customers with leading edge technology and top-shelf support. What kind of value can our customers look forward to seeing you bring to ATG from CADsoft? ATG’s current clients can expect to see a wider array of product offerings and diverse services for the AEC arena, including more BIM development support in the Civil and Construction fields. CADsoft’s expertise in the drone/photogrammetry and laser scanning technologies is second to none, and our customers will have unfettered access to all of it. What kind of good things do you see in the future for ATG? I expect ATG to continue to grow and become more of a resource to the AEC Community. ATG is offering new opportunities for the success of our clients every day, and I see more and more possibilities on the horizon. Preston Long, Technical Specialist, Construction I have an extensive background in building information modeling (BIM) workflows specific to construction. I understand how technology applications impact business issues at all levels within an organization. I have a long career and experience in Autodesk solutions such as Autodesk Revit, Autodesk Fabrication solutions and a strong background with 3D scanning and Robotic Total Station solutions such as Sokkia Robotic Layout. I have worked for and with architectural companies and understand not only the day to day requirements of the job, but also the success of efficiently implementing advance design technology. Preston has held positions as director of support services, product integration, IT, CAD manager, and design engineer. How long have you worked for ATG West/CADsoft Consulting? Just over a year, I started in August of 2016. How has ATG helped in your career development? I work primarily in the Team Augmentation group providing drafting services, but I also help with webinars and other speaking engagements, particularly to architectural groups. Most of my professional experience has been with the Autodesk Revit software packages, so I’m often asked to help solve a Revit-specific technical question, or give input on Revit training and template scopes. What do you like most about working for ATG? ATG is full of people who love what they do, and who genuinely care about our customers. How has ATG helped in your career development? ATG will help by career development by allowing us to expand into new territories. ATG’s vision is geared toward the customer’s experience and retaining each customer’s business, which is important and in line with my long term vision as well. A major part of that vision is capturing more service engagements and allowing us to build bigger and stronger project teams. What are the most pressing issues facing your customers? Sharing information across all departments creating a need for seamless information flow throughout the lifecycle of a construction project. How do you help with these issues? Meet and consult with customers at a high level to discover current processes to identify where gaps or potential gaps exist. Then proof and develop a strategic plan for executing the right hardware and software to maximize ROI. How do you provide assistance to your customers in a way that is unique to ATG? I have the expertise in workflow generation from detailed coordinated models to the field and back. For instance, implement a workflow with contractors to utilize coordinated models for layout and QA/QC purposes. In addition to using 3D scan technology to capture As-Built conditions in the field and relating that information back into the coordinated model. What is the key to maintaining a successful relationship as an Autodesk reseller? Maintaining the highest level of customer satisfaction. Communicating with your customers and assisting with all needs, but most importantly, meet project scopes and deliver on time. What are you most excited about with ATG acquiring CADsoft? To have an organization strong enough to support the industry’s growing need for services.
