The world of reality capture has really taken off in the past couple years due to the wide variety of options for the industry. With the power of reality capture, professionals can use it for inspections, as-built modeling, facility management and more: the possibilities are nearly limitless. This is the same for the software used to process, register, and combine point clouds.

Comparing Register 360 and Recap Pro

Let’s take a look at the options for point cloud registration, importing and exporting.

Conclusion

As a part of ATG’s Reality Capture Team, I have used both programs on almost every project I work on. Just like drawing a LINE in AutoCAD, there are at least 12 different ways of drawing that line. Same can be said with software built to register and deliver point clouds. It is just getting to know and understand the software to become more productive with the tools available.
