How does the Autodesk Construction Cloud empower engineers throughout the construction process? With capabilities like real-time collaboration, controlled file sharing and more, engineers can streamline their entire project process with connected data and teams, all in one solution. Let’s explore how engineers use the Autodesk Construction Cloud for data, file and issue management, collaboration, and design review.

Autodesk Construction Cloud – Why Engineers Need It

Wednesday, October 27, 2021 at 12 p.m.

Break down data silos

Connected data is a crucial part in the construction process. Without connected data, you don’t have connected teams, which can drastically affect the outcome of the project. Through the Autodesk Construction Cloud’s common data environment, you can connect engineering and construction teams so they have access to the same data in one single location across multiple devices.

Autodesk Docs, a solution within the Autodesk Construction Cloud, delivers a clear, single source of truth across the project lifecycle. This allows project teams to work from the latest data, ensuring that everyone is on the same page. You can connect teams to project data by setting custom permissions, and you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your data will stay safe. If the entire project team needs access, you can automatically sync files without permissions from the “For the Field” folder for easy mobile viewing*.

Control who has access to files

Even if you need a very specific file structure and permissions, Autodesk Docs allows complete document control with structured folders and comprehensive permission tools. These permission tools allow you to share information securely at the project, folder and sub-folder level. Worried about navigating these files? Robust search and filter tools ensure teams can quickly find the information they need. You can search and filter based on file type, versions, custom attributes and PDF content to narrow search results.

Design in the same space at the same time

Design collaboratively and make sure all project teams are on the same page with BIM Collaborate/Pro. With the Pro version, you get all the features included in BIM Collaborate plus native file hosting capabilities for Revit, Civil 3D & Plant 3D, which allows engineering teams to design together in a more connected environment. Teams can also host referenced design files, data shortcuts and Xrefs in one location, eliminating the need to be tethered to your office network over VPN.

Self-check work with ease

Stop manually checking your work and let the Autodesk Constuction Cloud do it for you! BIM Collaborate offers automated clash detection, allowing you to upload models and automatically identify clashes without the need to condition your model. Just publish and aggregate all multi-discipline models in a single folder to enable clash detection. Now you can focus on the most important constructability issues!

Gain visibility into issue responsibility

Issue management should be a collaborative and transparent process, but the lack of access to real-time issues can cause the model’s accountability and quality to quickly decline. Autodesk Docs & BIM Collaborate allow project teams to create and assign issues and track them to resolution. Plus, collaboration can take place at any time during the coordination process, making it easy to quickly deliver quality construction documents.

Autodesk Docs can also centralize issue management, allowing teams to effortlessly track and resolve quality issues across all teams from a centralized issue location.

Access all issues from one place

Track design, coordination, quality, safety and commissioning issues from the same issue log. You can even sort and filter to customize the view and find what you’re looking for.

Create and visualize issues

Create issues in just a few quick steps on web or mobile and place pins to identify the precise location of issues on 2D sheets or 3D models. Add a photo or document for additional context.

Connect construction workflows

Create essential references between issues, forms and RFIs to save time and increase transparency. You can create an issue directly from a form and, if needed, immediately escalate that issue to an RFI.

Customize issue settings

Capture specific data for each issue type in custom fields and set up 3-character issue pin labels to help your team quickly understand what type of issue they’re looking for.

Generate and share issue reports

Create a summary or detailed issue reports and easily share those with your team or even non-members. Use scheduled reports, like a weekly clash report, to track issue management.

Manage all issues on mobile*

Using the mobile app, you can create, update and track issues while you’re out on the jobsite.

*Mobile app available for Autodesk Build users.
